PSN Reviews: The Last Guy

Have you ever thought what would happen if the world ended tomorrow and was infested with Zombies and monsters waiting to devour your brains and possibly your soul? How would you survive and would you risk your life to save others at the time? What would you do if you were 'The Last Guy'?

Well none of those questions matter in this funky but fresh Japanese PSN game. The game starts off with a weird narration in japanese [but translated in captions]. As the story goes a purple beam of light hits the earth then zombies and monsters appear and starts devouring everyone around the the world like a fat guy eating a quadruple cheeseburger. However, those in buildings who viewed this horror are technically survivors and its up to you, the last guy to save them.

Gameplay:

Basically it feels like I'm playing a flash game on my PS3. A high quality flash game that is. Even though it's not an action game where you fight off the zombies and monsters it feels like a modern day remake of the old SNES classic 'Zombies Ate my neighbors' [without weapons] adding a taste of Google maps. It's also pretty difficult to because of the fact that you have to lead 1,000 people to the safe point within the alotted amount of time. Plus with the Zombies chasing you it makes it kinda hard to run albeit with your stamina running very short.

Graphics:

Like I said before the graphics look like a high quality flash game. The graphics are sweet looking, period. Only problem is that you never see what the monsters, people, or the last guy [you] look like up close. It's an overhead camera that leers above the city google maps style. Other than that thats the only way I can pretty much describe the graphics of the game.

Music:

Music is very amazing and ok but it really kicks in when the clock chimes down with those thumps letting you know to get the fuck back to the Safe point before time is up and the rescue chopper arrives.

Overall:

The Last Guy is an amazing game. Weird but fun. Even Shadow agrees but with me I enjoy weird Japanese games. This was my favorite and I recommend it to anyone who likes fun, fast paced, and challenging games like this. Go buy it on PlayStation Network now!!!

I give it a 8.5 out of 10 for creativity and cool japanese weirdness.
